Statement on Trump Administration Executive Order on Homelessness

The following statement can be attributed to David Rich, President & CEO, the Housing Collective:

President Trump’s executive order is not a solution; in fact, it will make the homelessness crisis worse. Forcing individuals into treatment, defunding vital care programs for those suffering from addiction, and making housing conditional on sobriety are cruel and misguided approaches that will harm people. This executive order chooses criminalization over compassion, and enforcement over effective solutions. The Housing Collective will continue to support our dedicated and hard-working partners across Connecticut over the coming weeks and months.
