About

The Housing Collective strengthens Connecticut’s housing and homelessness systems.

The Housing Collective is a non-profit based in Bridgeport, CT that strengthens Connecticut’s housing and homelessness systems by aligning communities, public agencies, and service providers around coordinated, regional housing solutions.

For 20 years, we have served as a backbone organization, helping partners work across boundaries to reduce homelessness, expand access to affordable housing, and build systems that support long-term housing stability.

We support the homeless response system in Western Connecticut as well as regional housing affordability initiatives in Western and Eastern Connecticut, aligning funding, resources, data, best practices, and lived experience to ensure stable and affordable housing is available to all.

We operate on a framework known as collective impact. We partner with more than 200 organizations to work together towards a common agenda using shared measurements, mutually reinforcing activities, and continuous communication.

Our Initiatives

The Housing Collective maintains three core initiatives that support and reinforce one another. Through these initiatives we support the homeless response system in Western Connecticut and advance housing affordability in Western and Eastern Connecticut.

The Opening Doors Initiative manages the homelessness emergency response system throughout western Connecticut, including Fairfield County, Litchfield County, and greater Waterbury.
