Statement on Funding for Homelessness Services in 2025 State Budget
The following statement can be attributed to Jessica Kubicki, Chief Initiative Officer of the Housing Collective’s Opening Doors Initiative:
“The Housing Collective is excited to see some of the critical budgetary needs to help Connecticut’s most vulnerable be included in the state budget this year, including funding for cold weather assistance for the homelessness emergency response system in perpetuity. We’re thankful that the Governor, legislators, and the End Homelessness Caucus recognized the dire need for continuous funding to help get our community off the streets when temperatures drop to dangerously cold levels each winter. There is still much work to be done, as we called for $33 million to fund critical homelessness services. We will continue to fight to make sure that the organizations that provide critical front-line services to CT’s most vulnerable residents receive the support they need to find lasting solutions to Connecticut’s homelessness crisis.”
