Pet-Inclusive Housing/Shelter Training

Pets are often the reason people delay entering shelter or turn down housing altogether — and many organizations don't yet have a plan in place to address this. This training equips housing and shelter staff with the practical knowledge needed to develop and implement an effective pet policy.

Shoshana Mostoller, MSW, VSW, Director of Programs

Shoshana is dedicated to helping people and pets stay together by providing support for families in crisis. She began her animal welfare career as the Program Director and then Executive Director of the Belleville Area Humane Society in Illinois. Seeing people’s heartache as they struggled to keep their pets led Shoshana to her role as the Community Engagement Manager for the Chesapeake Humane Society, where she managed a crisis boarding program. Currently, Shoshana works with My Dog Is My Home as a Storytelling Facilitator and Technical Assistance Specialist. She also serves as co-chair of the Hampton Roads Outreach Coalition, a collaborative network of animal welfare organizations in the region. Shoshana received her Masters Degree in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University and her postgraduate certification in Veterinary Social Work from the University of Tennessee.

    My Dog Is My Home is a national nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to shelter for individuals experiencing homelessness and their companion animals. They work to assist service providers like homeless shelters expand their programming to allow humans and their companion animals to remain together.
