Melissa Kaplan-Macey is an expert in affordable housing, public policy, urban planning and community engagement. She has extensive experience in building collaborative relationships with community and cross-sector partners to leverage resources and implement projects and programs. She serves on the Connecticut legislature's Majority Leaders' roundtable on affordable housing. And she has served as co-chair of Governor Lamont's transition transportation policy committee, a member of the Commission for Connecticut's Future and Development affordable housing plans working group and a member of Governor Lamont's Fairfield County transit oriented development task force. She also volunteers in her local community, serving on the Town of Mamaroneck's Housing Authority Board and the Mamaroneck Coalition for Affordable Housing (MCAH), as well as on the board of Sustainable Westchester. Prior to joining The Housing Collective, Melissa was VP for State Programs & Connecticut Director at Regional Plan Association, and previously was principal of Collaborative Planning Studio and a senior associate at BFJ Planning. She holds a master’s in urban planning from New York University’s Wagner School of Public Service and a bachelor’s in urban studies from Brown University.
