Housing Affordability

Fairfield County Housing Needs Assessment

Fairfield County is Connecticut’s economic engine, but despite strong demand for affordable housing, exclusionary zoning is limiting the ability of the market to create the supply of homes needed to meet demand.

This is one of several findings in Regional Plan Association’s Fairfield County Housing Needs Assessment which provides data and analysis for all 23 towns and cities in the County. The report is intended as a resource to help local officials bring much-needed affordability and equity to their communities.

While the county’s racial makeup is similar to the United States as a whole, more than two thirds of towns are 85% white, highlighting persistent segregation.
